Silverglades Pharmacy first opened its doors in 1987 and quickly became a trusted part of the Valyland Centre in Fish Hoek. After 33 years in Shop 28, the pharmacy made a small but significant move, just across the aisle, to larger and more modern premises at Shops 11 & 12, still within the same beloved centre.
In 2001, Kirtikant Patel took over ownership with a clear mission: to honour the pharmacy’s long-standing values while expanding the services offered to meet the evolving needs of the community. All original staff were retained at the time, and although some have since moved on or retired, the heart and soul of Silverglades Pharmacy remains unchanged.
At the centre of it all is Phyllis Morris, the original pharmacist who has been at the helm since day one. With her wealth of experience and unwavering commitment, Phyllis continues to provide reliable, personalised, village-style pharmaceutical care, proof that while technology may evolve, the value of genuine human connection endures.
Silverglades Pharmacy is proudly supported by Warren’s Pharmacy, located on Fish Hoek’s Main Road. As its ‘big brother’, Warren’s handles administrative and logistical support, enabling Phyllis and her team to focus entirely on caring for customers, offering the time, attention, and expertise that makes all the difference.
Historically, Silverglades has catered to a largely mature and geriatric clientele. As Kirtikant Patel explains, “Client service is our priority. We’ve always tailored our services to meet the specific needs of our older customers.”
Today, however, the demographic is shifting, and the pharmacy has adapted with a broader range of services for families and younger individuals. These include:
